Amazon.com makes Colorado Associates mad!!

As you know Amazon decided to drop all the associates from Colorado due to the new state tax.  I for one am not really happy with it because that means that if my state decides to have a tax for our online sales and I will be canceled by Amazon as a well.

So to make a point, I will ask all Colorado residents and anyone else who has had a Amazon associate account dropped to click on my links and bookmark them to show Amazon that we are not happy with how they are doing business. You can watch and watch until your heart is content and never loose your DVD or scratch them up.    Alone with Netflix I can now watch any Science fiction show and not have to worry about paying for it.   Some series that they have are Star Trek Next Generation, Voyager, Deepspace Nine, and Enterprise series that you can watch and return the DVD.   Although Amazon or Netflix doesn’t have the streaming rights at least you can still watch them for $8.99 a month.   Netflix does have the Farscape most of the series streaming and can be watched on the computer or TV.

I recently bought a Roku HD Player from Amazon and I am still loving it.   I wanted to talk about the how you can get the most out of your Roku Player.

Here’s how you get the most of out of your Roku Player:

1. Link your Roku to Amazon, You will need to put a special code that the Roku player gives you to put type in to Amazon and they use this code to find the Roku player.
2. Create a Pin, This is something that you should do once you have linked your account to the Roku player. This lets you buy videos without having to use your computer. If you decide to rent or buy a video from amazon all you do is enter your pin to give Amazon the right to charge your credit card. it also helps prevent the kids from buying stuff from Amazon without your special pin.

Hulu brings Star Trek : Generations

I simply love Star Trek and I am glad they bring this so people can watch it. I am hoping they will bring more movies and/or shows too. It is too bad they aren’t on Roku, but I will bet it will be there soon. If you want to watch other Star Trek Movies you can on Amazon VOD : Star Trek. With the Roku I can watch it on my Television set thanks to Amazon.

First Impressions of the Roku Digital Player

I recently bought the Roku Digital Player and I am really impressed.   I thought it would be a good idea to at least introduce people who haven’t used the Roku or heard of it.

Roku (pronounced “roh koo”)[1], founded in October 2002, is a privately held Saratoga, California consumer electronics firm which specializes in home digital media products. Their current consumer products line-up includes the Roku SoundBridge, a network music player, and the SoundBridge Radio, a network music player with built-in speakers and subwoofer, AM-FM receiver, volume-ramping alarm clock, preset buttons, SD slot and headphone jack. For retailers, Roku also makes the BrightSign solid-state media player, designed to drive HD displays in a retail environment.

Announced May 20, 2008, Roku is the manufacturer for the first Netflix streaming receiver box. The NXP-powered device runs Linux[3], costs $79.99 and provides unlimited access to Netflix’s streaming catalog, Amazon Video on Demand, and MLB.TV. Roku’s audio products do not use internal storage but rely on Wi-Fi or Ethernet to stream digital audio over a network, either from Internet radio or a computer attached to the same network. Roku introduced the Radio Roku Internet radio directory in August 2007. Radio Roku provides a directory of Internet stations, accessible from a web browser or from SoundBridge players.

So I finally got my copy of The Complete Series on DVD today, and I wanted to talk about this TV series that has been making me love this show from the very beginning. It provides an uplifting and entertaining for the whole family. The character Jarod is one who tries to protect the innocent and defend the weak, and we get to see that every week. it also has a great season plot arch’s each season. we see in each season something new develop or something old show’s up. There have times in the show we get to understand Miss Parker’s attitude and why she can be mean so often. I won’t spoil the show for you so I will just say go buy it and determine for yourself if you like it or not!!

The Economics of Adsense or Amazon!!

When it comes to which is better and why? Who you consider the most profitable? I would have to say Amazon but there are facts behind this that we must first discuss why Adsense is not as profitable and you would be less willing to use Adsense. If you took into account what you would make with Amazon in one month compared to Adsense. Here are some facts about Adsense that will make you think twice about using it:

• Click Fraud – Yep we know it is there and I talked in great detail about it. You could loose you Adsense account if they suspect your account being used as defrauding their publishers. This means you would loose all that potential income plus what ever you made that month.
• You can only make about 50 cents per click – This is really the Key difference with using Adsense verses Amazon. I am getting on average a month 54 Cents per click!!

Quantum Leap Season 1 can be viewed on Amazon.   As you can see I love Sci-Fiction shows and this one was pretty much the beginning for my journey.   I grew up watching Scott Bakula, who is Sam Beckett, trying to fix the wrongs in life and this was a good show with Morals.   I loved this show and can’t wait for them to add the other seasons to Amazon.  I loved this series and I hope you enjoy it to.

You can watch Stargate Universe on Amazon on Demand and proceeds to be a very good series to watch. Although I must say this isn’t for little Children because of the mild language and Sex scenes. You don’t see any nudity but you do see some bedroom scenes. I recommend Pg-13 or Older to watch this show, but it is still worth buying.

Now with the viruses writers seemingly slowing down with the malicious sites, I wanted to talk about something total different. As most of my readers knows I am always for saving money and today is no different. We’ve heard we are in a recession and that can hit hard on our pockets for the really hard. Now let’s be fair about this, I know not everything on Amazon is going to beat Wal-mart or other competitors but I have found 80% of what I am looking for to be cheaper on Amazon or there featured Merchants. I know the Amazon Prime Membership that I have signed up has also saved me on shipping and handling. I would estimate that to be 3 to 4 dollars an item right now.

Excellent headphones 
I bought these headphones off of woot.com, and they are just simply amazing. They are very comfortable, and I have never heard my music sound this good. I bought a pair on woot for 20 bucks, and they are definitely worth a lot more than that. These come with a nice thick extra long cord, a nice carrying bag, and a microphone to clip on and hook up. No problems so far, I am really satisfied with my purchase.

I saw this and wanted to let people know just how nice these look.  I saw this on Amazon.   These are great for Gamers they aren’t as portable as the smaller headphones but they will at least give the gamer the best chance of surviving a game due to the feedback that it provides.   It also has a great noise isolation so you don’t have to worry about hearing a lot of outside noise.   I thought this was so cool for gamers.

Yep it is unavoidable to not get that broad band speed you expected from buying a Cellular Modem and you want to learn more about what can affect your upload/download speed on the modem.   Each carrier has there own specific speeds or usage.  We will go through each and everyone one them talking about the kinds of speeds:

• EVDO — is known as Evolution-Data Optimized and is most commonly around the major city areas. It is sometimes consider 3G and is considered the fastest in the industry. Although there are always going to be debates on who is the fastest, it really doesn’t matter because of the limitations of the networks.
• GPRS — General Packet Radio Service and is also part of the 3G network but requires different frequency to acquire the signals from the tower. This is used in lower end of companies due to the fact it is easier to maintain than EVDO, but the speed is still comparable to all the other 3G family because of the interdependency of the connectivity.

Just saw this and couldn’t resist talking about it.  This would be great on the road.  If you use this on a laptop, then you would have some really good channels as you travel on the road.  No more having to watch movies on your laptop.   You can now see the current events as you travel around the US.  With the Digital change over Coming Feburary 17, 2009.  You’ll want to have a way to watch TV, this would be one way.  Right now Amazon is offering it for 112.22 but that could change so check the link out to find out how much it is.

If your like me and your curious how these viruses work. This book is good for those who want to learn how to fight or combat viruses that usually come with E-mails. You have to know why there are viruses and why you need Anti-virus software. Although I’ve only read some of this, it makes my head spin. I’d recommend people read it at least twice. This is good for technicians who have to fight with viruses a lot, will give you so many good ideas on how to combat them.

Disaster preparation 101 — Data backup

In this one I will talk about Disaster, it happens to all of us from time to time. A fire, a earthquake, a stolen laptop or any number of ways. So what happens to your data, is it stored on the laptop? Is it important very sensitive data? Could you get fired if you lost that data?

These are all questions you must ask yourself when you have laptop. How do you backup your data or even do you have a backup? Having seen this with my own clients, I must wonder if there are people out there who just don’t care. I had a client the other day who gotten a virus and this was a really mean virus. Deleted some very important files when you tried to clean the virus out. She called me in a panic because she couldn’t load up windows? I asked if she had any backups, she said “what’s a backup” . So I sat there discussing this with the client for over 20 minutes. Finally she started to understand, she said she had the OEM Backup DVD but nothing else. She also said she needed help with getting data off the computer. I told her that I would be able to come the next day and I was lucky the virus didn’t do anything else to her data. We were able to retrieve the data from her system. That is where I start my rant , Why would anyone not have backup of there most important data?

What Laptop is good For gaming?

I been thinking of getting a new laptop but would like to get one that is good for gaming.   The system I have right now is an Aspire Series 5610z and Yes it a good system.

Is Hulu the “salad course”?

As I’ve been watching Hulu the last few months.  I’ve come to think that Hulu isn’t offering us the viewers the chance of a full course meals.  They seem to like to stop after the first 2-3 seasons on most of the shows.    I recently contacted Hulu about the Naruto episodes and here’s what they had to say about it:

So why does Hulu do this? I have a theory and this is one that most people will agree on. My theory is that the distributors are trying to entice us into buying the rest of the seasons from someplace, like Amazon or Itunes. Now I am going to have to say this is really stupid way of business and will sooner or later create even more of a demand to download these shows illegally. In the past people have always looked for the cheap way to watch there favorite shows.

Is Spore Worth 49.99?

So I been doing a little digging and trying to find out what the heck people are complaining about and I found some great reviews telling me exactly why people hate EA.  They don’t necessarily hate Spore or Will Wright, but the Security around The Spore game.

So In a couple of these comments.  These reviews talk about Creating the creatures and All.  I’ll submit some of the reviews that I thought was relevant and let you decide for yourself.  I would however wonder the one big question?  Is Spore Worth the Money?   Here’s the details that I know of right now:

1. You can only install it 3 times before you have to call EA to get an override code.  (Although I heard rumors that if you unistall it, you will get a credit for an Install)
2. You can not Install new hardware or upgrade your hardware because if you do, it’ll count as an install, According to this one person.
3. The game only allows 1 login per Install.  So you can’t have more than one character and one universe according to this person.

Hulu Set to Launch on Monday

After gearing up all summer, Hulu (the NBC-Fox joint venture that is going up against YouTube) was supposed to launch in private beta yesterday, says a source. That is why NBC pulled its videos from YouTube last week. (This, after NBC abandoned iTunes for Amazon, and already started offering free downloads of its shows on the Web).

But launching a video Website can be hard—even if it is just a private beta. Now, says our source, Hulu is gunning for a private beta launch next Monday, so that it can still meet CEO Jason Kilar’s self-imposed October deadline. That date could slip until the following Wednesday and technically be considered on-time, of course, but Kilar probably wants to avoid the trick-or-treat jokes. We’re still waiting for our invites.

I thought it would launch soon. I’ve been getting hints that they started dropping other services. I figure Techcrunch is right!!

Amazon launches DRM-free “Amazon MP3″ music downloads

If you’re into DRM-free music, you have a reason to get pretty excited today. As speculated, Amazon has launched the public beta of its new digital music portal called Amazon MP3, which will feature two million songs from 180,000 artists and 20,000 labels, all without the painful and annoying restrictions of DRM. The press release claims that the site, which will include EMI and Universal tracks (take that, Jobs), will make separate songs available for $.89 or $.99, and boasts that all of the “top 100″ tracks will be priced at the former, lower amount. Albums will range in cost from $5.99 to $9.99, with the best selling albums coming in at $8.99. Of course, since there’s no DRM, users are free to throw the 256Kbps MP3s on any player they like, as well as burn CDs, copy to MiniDisc, and dump to 8-track.
