Having said that I feel the notion that Apple is trying to keep there reputation as a virus free system. I can only hope that they stay that way. Which as much as I know, Apple will most like start to be the main source for botnets, because of the lack of security.

According to reports on this blog, people are worried Apple stance on it being the safest and having so much immunity to viruses. Apple in the past has stated they have mislead people with there firewall. Yet Apple takes down that suggestion of having an Anti-virus(Quietly).

Everything I’ve seen suggest that virus writers and Malware writers will MOST likely start targeting the Mac OS X, they know Apple sense of security is Vulnerable to attack and they will exploit it more and more. So what does that mean for Apple, it just means that soon every hacker who has a botnet will want a piece of the Apple Pie and is right now.

So what can Mac users do, get an <a href="http://www.tech-linkblog.com?wp_ct=76"target="_blank"rel="nofollow"title="Anti-Virus" >Anti-virus and maybe Apple will have to start backing down from the Virus commercials and actually admit it. So why do people say one thing and do another?

Now I know Vista isn’t what people expected and that it had high expectations when they first released it. I think that is due to the fact Microsoft tried so hard to make Vista seem more than it actually was. Now According to Ina Fried from CNET her post was about Windows 7: A better Vista?. In her post she talked about the features of <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2Fs%3Fie%3DUTF8%26x%3D0%26ref_%3Dnb%5Fsb%5Fnoss%26y%3D0%26field-keywords%3DWindows%25207%26url%3Dsearch-alias%253Daps&tag=techlinkblogc-20&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative="target="_blank"rel="nofollow"title="Windows 7" >Windows 7, and how Windows 7 is almost like Vista. I tend to agree because of the look from screenshots I’ve seen to make me think it will be Version 2 of Vista. I don’t think it is anything that will change from Vista to Windows 7. It will however be more ready to boot up and shutdown that is according to what Microsoft said to Ina.

What is <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2Fs%3Fie%3DUTF8%26x%3D0%26ref_%3Dnb%5Fsb%5Fnoss%26y%3D0%26field-keywords%3DWindows%26url%3Dsearch-alias%253Daps&tag=techlinkblogc-20&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=390957"target="_blank"rel="nofollow"title="Windows" >Windows 7 going to have? Some reports are saying:

Windows will have only one “Ready Sticker”!

Better Battery Life and Boot Faster

Lean, Faster, and even Embedded

Dialed Down on the UAC

Will be released in Mid to late 2009

I did some research and everything so far is either confirmed to be in this next release of Window 7 or is speculation. I don’t know if these are true. I do know however everything they talked about is looking to me to be like Vista Version 2. Nothing they’ve said so far couldn’t of been an update like a service to pack to fix all these things people are wanting right now. Vista to be faster, have better battery life, be lean, be embedded, better Uac, and boot faster.

Now I could be wrong but that is everything Vista could of done and still is possible to do!! If only Microsoft would do what is needed people wouldn’t be wanting Windows 7. Although I suspect people will have there hopes broken, or complain about it when it comes out. I suspect the ones who want Windows 7 will be saying Vista is great!! I will just have to watch what happens in the future!!

According to a media reports, Erik Tews and Martin Beck claim that they have found a way to unlock the Temporal Key Integrity Protocol (TKIP) key, used by WPA, to read data sent from a wireless router to laptop computers. According to the researchers, the key can be cracked in 12-15 minutes.

[via Sophos]

According to Sophos, they are claim that people can now watch what you are doing on a Wireless router to a laptop. Although this isn’t to be unexpected this is a very serious out come. It is now easier to watch what people are doing online. So does that mean people can see everything you do? Not necessary. According to some people this is harder than it seems, most of the websites you visit are not encrypted, but websites that use the “https” protocol are more safer to use online. You should be safe if you are buying things online as long as you are sure it is secure. Some other steps to take to help make it harder to unencrypte your wireless single is to use Roboform promotion codes you will get for 10% or 20% off the purchase price!!

Some other steps to consider are:

If you have a wireless router and want to be secure with any transactions online you might think about hooking up to the internet via the CAT5 cable. This is one way to prevent anyone from seeing what you are doing online and protects your privacy. Although this too can be overcome in certain circumstances they are much harder to do and implement so you are safer this way than with most others.

So you have all this mail you want to back up in case something terrible happens to your <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2Fs%3Fie%3DUTF8%26x%3D0%26ref_%3Dnb%5Fsb%5Fnoss%26y%3D0%26field-keywords%3DHard%2520Drive%26url%3Dsearch-alias%253Daps&tag=techlinkblogc-20&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative"target="_blank"rel="nofollow"title="hard drive" >hard drive. So here is ways to backup your email and other programs in <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2Fs%3Fie%3DUTF8%26x%3D0%26ref_%3Dnb%5Fsb%5Fnoss%26y%3D0%26field-keywords%3DVista%26url%3Dsearch-alias%253Daps&tag=techlinkblogc-20&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=390957"target="_blank"rel="nofollow"title="Vista" >Vista. I think Vista has a new way of keeping program profiles in an hierarchical setup. So what is the HIDDEN directory it is:

C:\Users\[USER]\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles

Now as you can see your Thunderbird profile is in a hidden directory in the AppData Directory. You can easily get to the hidden directory by typing %appdata% {enter} in the search bar of Vista. Now How do you backup and restore. The program I use to backup is GoodSync. I send the data to the cloud and when I need it I can restore it back to the directory. Now what about restoring, if you have to do a complete re-install of Thunderbird you can always copy over the back up to the Thunderbird Profiles directory and install Mozilla Thunder bird and it should see it. If by chance you load up Thunderbird and you have to re add everything you would have to delete everything in that directory and then restore from the back up.

It is also a good idea to backup all the roaming directory from time to time. This way you have every important program needed in case of a problem with your drive. These are just a few tips and tricks to keep your data safe from having problems in the long run.

Fixing the Adobe Problem!!

If your have been having problems with Flash Players stoping after 2 seconds of playing. I have a few ideas to try to get rid of the problem. It used to happen all the time with <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2Fs%3Fie%3DUTF8%26x%3D0%26ref_%3Dnb%5Fsb%5Fnoss%26y%3D0%26field-keywords%3DVista%26url%3Dsearch-alias%253Daps&tag=techlinkblogc-20&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=390957"target="_blank"rel="nofollow"title="Vista" >Vista in the early days. Here’s what I did to occasionally get the flash player to work:

Cleaning out the Prefetch Directory! — Having seen this from time to time. If you have programs startup that might need to be refreshed this will refresh them so that they run like new. You occasionally can get programs that will load in a odd way and this will fix that also.

You want to be more anonymous? — Cleaning out your cache on your browser can sometimes fix the problem. It’s like anything else it can sometimes be corrupted.

Some Important programs to prevent yourself from having viruses and Malware!! — Having seen this with my own two eyes, if you have a viruses or malware on your system that too can cause problems with playback of flash media. So just double check making sure you don’t have any viruses.

Adobe Flash tips and Tricks! — Also having found this out. Adobe actually keeps the flash video on there servers cached or sometimes somewhat buffered to help with playback. Clean the cache out at the source sometimes fixes the problem also.

Now having used some of these tricks to get flash players to run has on occasion worked for some strange reason or another. Although I don’t know if this will fix the 2 second playing video problem I get the feeling it should since in theory it has everything to do with cache and corruptions of the files. If you can come up with some other tips or tricks to fix the problem let me know!!
