Facebook games having Scareware redirect Sites

I was on Facebook Yesterday doing my usually just playing one of my games when all of the sudennly this pops out:

As you can see this seems to be another site which is a scareware site, the site Powerantivirusscannerv2.com is trying to scare you into buying a fake antivirus.   I don’t know if it was Facebook doing this or if I got the redirect cookie somewhere else.    Although if you have downloaded the program that they want you to install or even think you have this fake antivirus installed, Spywareremove has the information needed to remove off your system.  It seems they are going to use social sites more and more and you should be careful.  I also have some good resources like Free Anti-virus and Free firewalls that would help protect you from this threat.

Somethings to consider when you see something like this pop up are?  Do you have antivirus or a firewall?  If so, then you shouldn’t be worried to much.   Always look to see if you can see if it is a webpage and not from the system.  This is something the scammers are always trying to do to get your money.  Remember these sites are not really a trustworthy site and should be avoided at all cost.  I also recommend using the Hijackthis software to look for these rogue softwares in your system to better protect your system.

Tools for Virus Removal : The ones I like to use!

In this post I want to talk about virus removal tools that I like to use when I need to remove a virus.   Some thing to consider when using these tools are:

• Is it a Rootkit?
• Is it Spyware?
• Is it a Virus?
• Is it a Trojan?
• Is it a Worm?

Each of these have to be dealt with differently because each requires something different.  Like rootkits if you have one installed and know that it is a rootkit you only options are to download some rootkit removers like:

• Sopho’s Anti-rootkit remover –  This is good for those more known viruses and can remove several types of rootkits.   This isn’t the only one I use, but it is a part of group that does the rootkit removing for me.
• Microsoft Rootkit Revealer –  This is good for proving there is a rootkit.  I’ve not seen it not detect a rootkit.  Most of the time when I find a rootkit from the other rootkit revealers this one actually dos better with information.
• Panda Anti-Rootkit Remover — This one is another one I use when the other ones can’t remove it.  Each one does remove certain rootkit differently and works better than the other.

Stop botnets in its tracks With a Firewall!

Now let’s talk about this, having been seeing recent surges of people getting infected.  I’ve come to the conclusion that companies like AVG and other Anti-Virus companies are keeping up.   Now true if all you have is an Anti-virus and nothing else that greatly increases your likely hood of getting a virus.

In a recent virus storm, We have people finding my site because of a Good Firewall.   No if he didn’t have anything but Windows firewall then it would of gotten through and you would not of known about it.  So let’s talk about how to prevent botnet attacks.   This is relatively easy and if you follow some common rules.   You to could be less likely to be infected.  I will say this most people don’t do these common tips and they should do them.

Spying on Spyware.ISpynow!!

This is another Virus that is going around and thought I’d tell you about it:

Spyware.ISpyNow monitors files, network traffic, and keystrokes. This Spyware gives the person who installed it a Web-based interface with summaries of logged information on the host computer.

Now this one isn’t to hard to figure out what happened.  You have to manually install it on your system to get infected.  Symantec has a great way on uninstalling this annoyance.  I also suggest checking out my other program list just in case you don’t want to buy Symantec Anti-Virus programs.  Some other things to check out is:

• Avg detected Trojan Horse Generic 12.htc? – This has a great article on how to use HiJackthis program and how to make sure you no longer have the virus.
  
• Some Important programs to prevent yourself from having viruses and Malware!! — This article gives you some other programs to use other than Symantec.   You have a wide variety of choices on Anti-virus programs and Firewall Choices.  You also have some choices on Spyware removal programs.

Avg detected Trojan Horse Generic 12.htc?

Just got a warning from AVG about, trojan horse generic 12.HTC, haven’t heard of it, anyone out there hear if this one? apparently it infects explore.exe, and after months of explore.exe crashing I’d say it’s a legit virus.

Some tricks and tips to remove this little virus is quite simple. It is embedded in your system so how do you remove this threat? Easy follow these steps and you will have a better chance of getting rid of the virus:

1. Find out all you can on the virus – Finding out the extent of where the virus lays is really a good idea.  Just because you found one place doesn’t mean it isn’t also hiding some other place.  Some good ways to figure out where it might be is to download Hijackthis and Then onces you download it and install.  Run it, and when you get the LOG file you will want to go to HijackThis Log Analysis Site 1 and HijackThis Log Analysis Site 2, and see what it says.

Taking back Program Controls : For the Beginners!

So, let’s face it, this is one of the most annoying problems there are with programs.   Programs that you think are shut down but are actually still active in the Taskmanager.  So I figured I’d talk about some of the most common fixes for these problems.    Now as you know there can be any number of programs or glitches as they say, causing the problems.  So let’s talk about the why, shall we.

Most of the time programs don’t quit because they are waiting for some kind of response from the system or the System is waiting for the program to close by itself.  It could also be a problem with a Virus or Root kit?  How do you fix it?

Fixing the problem is somewhat just trial and Error.  It isn’t always the hardest thing to do but sometimes people overlook the easiest solutions.   So here are some easy ones:

• Check to see if one of the Microsoft updates are causing the problem –  Sometimes you might not realize it, but having installed an update can cause problems like KB951748.  That one caused a major Headache for Zonealarm.  So it is wise to check each months updates when you start seeing problems, sometimes it could of been happening for a while but it can sometimes cause troubles.
