Netsky.Q is a worm that spreads through e-mail. It is distributed as a 28,008 byte Win32 executable, compressed with PEtite, which drops a 23,040 byte DLL file. It also distributes itself inside ZIP archives.

I saw this on on the net and through we should talk about and let people know how you could get that the worm off your computer. It seems to be a self-replicating worm, it will continue to send out fake messages to people with the subject lines Like:

• Delivery Error
• Delivery Failure
• Delivery
• Mail Delivery failure
• Mail Delivery System
• Mail System
• Delivery
• Delivered Message
• Error
• Status
• Failure
• Failed
• Unknown Exception
• Delivery Failed
• Deliver Mail
• Server Error
• Delivery Bot

And with each message there is the reciepts email address at the end.  This worm seems to be spreading like wildfire today.   It is because people have not install

Now how do you get rid of it.  It seems that most of Anti-Virus software would get it done.  All you would need to do is scan for this virus with the latest updated virus databases and will go away.   According E-Trust Anti-Virus they say they can remove it.   This is a really old virus, according to my sources this was first seen in 2004.   In order to prevent this in the future I’d suggest installing a free anti-virus and using it.    This is one smart little worm according to CA IT.

If you have quite a few Desktops in your Office and want to update all of them to the newest patch all in one swoop, I’d suggest downloading Clone of Autopatcher and making an ISO image so you can go around to each computer and install the patches quickly and easily.  Prevent yourself from getting that virus and some others in the future.   This is a friendly tip for all those hard working IT workers.

This just came from USA Today, According to them and I’ll quote:

Office Depot plans to close 112 underperforming retail stores in North America over the next three months. In addition, 14 stores will be closed in 2009 as their leases expire or other lease arrangements are completed, it said.

The retailer will also close six of its 33 distribution centers in North America, and says it plans to open about 20 stores in 2009, down from an earlier estimate of 40.

Although this isn’t talking about layoffs but this will greatly impact people who will be jobless due to the closings.   SO I wanted to talk about how many per store,  I estimate it will be like 20 people per store on average.   So that will be around 2,500 people will be jobless in the stores and I don’t know how many people will be jobless from the distribution center.   If you want to check out my other posts just click here.  If you search my site you will find even more tips and tricks to better help you be ready for the job market.

Think you’ve got nothing to worry about, according to Secunia 98% of computers are not fully patched and are vulnerable to some kinda of attack.

If you have a system that is off of the Net you could use the Clone of Autopatcher Program to do it for you.   You also need to update all your secondary programs such as Audacity, Open Office, and other programs that you use weekly.

If you don’t know what you need to update sometimes just having a program check for you can make a really good difference.   The one that I like to use is Appsnap and it actually searches you computer to see what might need to be updated.   I also suggest for the final suggestion is check out my Anti-Virus and Anit-Spyware Resources and make sure you have a firewall and anti-virus software.  This will greatly reduce your chances of getting a virus but that isn’t all you have to be careful on what you click on read this article on Some Important programs to prevent yourself from having viruses and Malware!! We’ve laid off a just under 10% of our full-time staff, cut our overhead by doing smart things like renting desks (we have six desks/offices available fyi), and reorganized our editorial department to focus on freelance positions over in-house editors. The net result
of the effort is we are giving Mahalo another year of “dry powder” (or runway) to complete our mission.

This is not to be unexpected after all the talk about the recession coming our way. It does however emphasizes the need for companies to consider there profit margins and accounting strategy.

Mahalo was launched in May 2007 as an Alpha test. That is to say only a select number of people were able to access the site and create feedback to the development of the site. As of January of 2008 it is in what we call the Beta test phase. Which means more people are testing it out and find out it’s flaws to report back about where they need to improve.  Mahalo’s directory employs human editors to review websites and search engine results.

Saying that Mahalo is in Beta still doesn’t lessen the fact that they are worried about there revenue model and expect a drastic decrease in revenue over the next 2 years due to the Recession still hanging over our heads.  This is where it comes to pure talent and understanding that most people in the business has to worry being laid off for example Merck Laid off 13% of it’s workforce. Most people know the dread and fear of having the possibility of a Layoff hanging over your head and it is bound to affect even the most stubborn person and independent person.   It is going to come at a time like Christmas or the first a year and you will have to scrounge around and try to find another job.   It’s tough and I’ve got a list that will help you :5 ways to improve your chance of getting hired.

With this list you will be able to get a better grip of the future and maybe create a better future in the process.

Mahalo is still in it’s infancy and will still need time to grow and mature and with this recession looming over everyone’s head they will have quite a time making heads or tails of the future.  So why try to create the future if you don’t know what will happen?  That comes with the territory of blogging and website that are 2.0.  It’s a hit or miss when it comes to people finding the best content and sometimes finds the worst content.  This is where you as a reader have to choice what to listen to and who to listen too.  I don’t say that will be easy but it is essential in finding what you need at the time you need it.

If we don’t do anything, this will be the last you will see of some of these big name sites.  We need to gather around them and show our support, by reading there content and providing feedback if there is something that needs to be change.  That is your power to help these websites become the best they can.  So go comment on your favorite website, tell them something you think they can do to better the content.  So why aren’t you doing that now?
