There Seems to Be a Fake site that are popping up today right after what happened with PIFTS.EXE. I just happen to Google it to see what people are talking about and this appears on the front page.
As you can see this leads to a server in Poland and once you go to it you see:
I will be reporting this to Phishtank. This is scareware which means there is no real VIRUS because and you
Should never believe the screens when you see something like this. According to Wikipedia:
Some websites display pop-up advertisement windows or banners with text such as: “Your computer may be infected with harmful spyware programs. Immediate removal may be required. To scan, click ‘Yes’ below.” These websites go as far as saying that a user’s job, career, or marriage would be at risk. Products using advertisements such as these are often considered scareware. serious scareware applications qualify as Rogue software.
[Via Wikipedia]
So if you are worried you have a virus or think you have a virus I would advise you to download one of the free Many anti-virus software and firewall. This is nothing new with the companies who are doing this but don’t buy anything because people are trying to scare you into thinking you have a virus. That rarely is a valid software and you should use the ones that you trust. If you find a site like that please report them to Phishtank and other sites that way we can protect everyone who goes there.
Microsoft Sans Serif,sans-serif;”>Is Google part of your you blog Body?
Having Google be part of your blog is essential to keeping people coming to your site. Google is kind, intelligent enough, forgiving, and nice to have on your site.Having Google juice helps you give your blog a chance to thrive. Making enemies is fine if you must, but don’t make enemies with Google. You need to understand that Google is right now the Alpha Dog. It can make or break your site. If you get removed from Google, guess what you will probably be removed from other search sites almost certainly because of Google.
Time is the essence of creating a good blog!
It takes time to get people to come to your blog and stay at your blog. It isn’t something that will come almost instantly. It has taken me a year now to start getting people a high volume of people coming to my site. Some people think blogging should bring people to there site almost instantly. I would say that is almost impossible unless you do some things that I will not go into but it will never keep people to come to your blog, it’s how you talk to your web users. I’ll talk more about that later. I hope this helps you figure out how to start yoru blog and understand the challenges of having a blog. If you want to comment about what I’ve said please go right ahead!!
This comes with some problems and some answers. Finding something that your passionate about is one way to get other people who are passionate about the same thing to come find your blog. The only problem is that you create a single group of people who are at your blog for a single reason. Having been doing the Hulu clues, I’ve seen that and understand that will happen. I am trying to get people to stay at my site is the hardest part of having what I call a point of entry campaign. I know most of them will see my site and go do something else. I almost expect that but I know I will keep a few people who like what they see and want to keep seeing this type of stuff. I never expect to keep everyone who comes to my blog. I expect I’ll probably keep around 10% or so from just doing the point of entry campaign.
Stats are always going to say something different with each site and owner, it is something that is going to be valuable to a degree. It however doesn’t tell the full story, it only tells a part of the story. People will always have opinions on stats and it will always be different from one person to the other. I will never base my site on just stats alone. I base it on the community.
Will these people stay after Hulu clues are over?
I’ll be truthful, I am not going to say one way or the other. It is like a wave of people and it will always be that way!! People are always going to come and go, it’s something you should never take personally like you’ve done something to get people to leave and others to come to your site. Some bloggers think it is bad to loose people, most of the time it is something that will eventually happen. It happens because people are human and like change. Change is something that will happen and most bloggers know this.
Does it depend on my site server?
Having a reliable server is something that helps get people to come to your site. I remember having a free blogger account and if I get hit with 100 people doing a search for something and them all trying to go to my site almost all at the same time, my site couldn’t handle it. Unlike who I have today. [insert ad] If you have a powerful server who can take the web hits and be reliable, that is how you succeed in having a blog.
A site talk about this really cool Regedit. To Do this you will need to do some things. Check out the full article at PC Heaven for the Reg Hack. I did the hack and it worked. I know have a way to turn off and on Aero when I’m on the road. I don’t have to worry about battery life for my Vista laptop. This should increase my battery life and extend my time on the system without slowing me down!!
Apple decides to install mobile Me, without permission!!
The latest update to Itunes 7.7.0.43 also installs this little program into the preference control panel of your Vista Premium operating system. It has me irritated by it. I didn’t ask about this or want this to be in the installed. So what does this mean?
Apple expects everyone to pay 99$/Year for this service!
Yes that’s right. If you use Itunes, Apple expects you to have an IPOD or a mac. That also makes me mad. I don’t want that on my system. I am sure you also would like to get rid of that too, so here is how!!
Uninstall Apple Mobile Devices from your add/remove programs section.
[Classic View] Start > Control Panel > Program & Features> Find Apple Mobile Devices and Click Uninstall
[or]
Start > Control Panel > Uninstall programs > Find Apple Mobile Devices and Click Uninstall
After you uninstall the program just refresh your control panel screen by pressing F5 or right click and click refresh. It should disappear.
Should Apple be allowed to install that without permission?
I say no, I would like them to address this issue. I don’t want to have to keep uninstalling this Apple Mobile Device program every time they have an update. I could not update the software but that means I’d be leaving myself to vulnerabilities.
What are you thoughts on this little problem??
I am asking my readers what they think about this? Do you think this is a security flaw? You think someone could hack into your account with just a robot. Does it remain active if you are using it but restart the computer or do you have to put in the password every time it boots? These are just the questions that I have. What’s your questions?
*Side Note*
If you have an I-POD or an I-Phone, I am not sure what this will do with syncing so if you have any problems you should just be able to reinstall Itunes 7.7.0.43 and should work. This is for people like me or doesn’t have an I-Pod or I-Phone. If you do unistall it and have this let me know how it works by leaving a comment.
Having been using Hulu for the last few months, I’ve had to tweak the Flash Player and I’d thought I share some tips to get your movies and shows to run smoother on some systems. I will say this, it is not some times the system but the connection to the Internet. Bandwitdth, for some shows are sometimes the hardest part of getting to watch the show.
From time to time, Check for updates:
Having updates will sometimes resolve the most common issues with the Flash player. I’ve had that happen in the past, a certain version would not work right with my system. After updating on those occasions, I’d be ready go!! So here’s the website to go to download and install the latest version:
Adobe seems to not want to tell you if you have the lastest version. So I’ve got a schedule to check it ever month and see if I have the latest version. How can you figure that out? By downloading and installing. If you’ve got the current version then you do not have to install it again!!
Put more access on storage!
Currently we have Terabyte hard drives, so we can have the system store more information on our hard drive. I’m not saying that does not come without some security risk, but I do have a better time with streaming video. By making more space available for the flash player to use, you can sometime cut down on connection speed and reliability. I’ve had instances that once I’ve changed the amount of space for a website, I’ve gotten better video and watching experiences. How you may ask by doing two things:
Going to your favorite video website > Run a video > Right Click on Video > Click Settings
Slide the bar to where you want it. The default is 100 Kilobytes, I’ve got it set to 10 Megabytes. I’ll let you choice how much. It just depends on the space and how much your willing to give up.
Then you have to direct yourself to the adobe website and do the same there. You have to put add the information to the cloud you could say. Here’s the link, you can always get there by either visiting the Adobe website or clicking on the advanced tab in the settings manager.
You would then go to the website storage tab or link and go there and slide the bar to where you’ve put the other one or give it more. You then would want to make sure adobe is using your hardware acceleration for playing movies and video.
Make sure yours has the Check Mark!! Sometimes it is easier just to clear the Cache!
Yes, I did say clear the Flash player cache. Here is how you do it. You will have to go the settings manager website. The Cache is in the storage settings manager. Then click on Delete all sites. It will ask if your sure. You say yes, and it’s done.
After that you should have some smoother sailing with Hulu and other websites that require flash. It isn’t hard to do but it is sometimes a pain because you have to from time to time clear out that cache on the website. If anyone else can come up with some good tips throw them out my way. Share your tips with the world.
The DNS is like a big Phonebook to where you tell it who you want to call, in this case go, and it finds the numbers and takes you there. It’s like telling a cab driver where you want to visit, just like telling the cab driver to come to my site. When you enter http://www.tech-linkblog.com into your browser, your telling DNS to go fetch the ip and direct your connection to this site.
So how can I fix this flaw?
Simple, You will need to direct yourself to OpenDNS. Has Fixed the flaw to help protect you. How do you use it? You will tell your system to direct all the DNS queries through that then your ISP DNS.
So by using the openDNS, you will be bypassing the DNS flaws that you might of have. If you want to use that DNS server go to there website and it tells you step by step on how to do it with your own system.
The Nice thing about OpenDNS is they have so many features, You can prevent phishing, adult sites, Domain blocking, and much more. If you use this, you can prevent you kids from getting on the sites that you don’t want them to get on. It lets you have control over what you want to do. I recommend people to use OpenDNS.
Putting Linux on a Vistamachine isn’t hard, actually the program I like to use to do it is:
So why use it for Vista? Here’s the answer. When you use it for Vista you don’t have to have a seperate partition.
As you can see you put it on one drives in a directory. It installes it without having to have a Linux partition. It will download the ones you want:
As you can see you can install 4 different Ubuntu Distro’s without having to have a linux partition. I’ve heard some people say, that you actually cheating Linux but I say it’s not cheating, it’s a necessary. I have to be able to use Linux from time to time because of people use it from time to time!! It does not matter the how much you use it, it is the essence of using it.
Although this isn’t only a Vista program it actually works on Windows XP, 98, and 2000. So go check this little program out. Tell me what you think of it, I actually like this little program.
I have been doing quite a few router reworks. I’ve got a wireless G router from my DSL provider and Have had problems with someone in my neighborhood trying to get onto my router. They were trying everything. I wanted to give you some suggestions that would help you keep your secure and have some piece of mind!!
Turn off Signal Identification(What your router name is)- By turning of the signal so no one can see the broadcast name will greatly make it harder for anyone to get onto your router.
Change your router identification – Creating a unique router identification will also make it harder for anyone to guess router identification. Keep the identification something that is unidentifiable to the location where you live.
USE WPA and not WEP – WEP has been cracked so if at all possible use WPA encryption and that too will make it harder for an unwanted guest.
Use a Random Password Generator (Roboform an generate secure random passwords) ["Use one these promo codes to get it cheaper"] – By using a random password you prevent hackers from guessing the Network password of your WPA key.
Change your Admin name account, if you can. – Some Admin accounts can be change to something else. The default admin is the most widely used one. Change it to something ONLY you will know. You will increase your security also that way.
If your not expecting to have a lot of laptops on the network turn on Media Access Control filter – Preventing unauthorized computers from connecting to the wireless router helps you lock down the router!!
Update your BIOS – If you have a flash bios on the router update that. There may be know vulnerabilities of old routers that hackers can use to gain access.
Turn Router Firewall to Medium – They say having a hardware firewall is harder for any viruses and Trojans to get in or out. It also helps to prevent hackers from gaining access to the router.
Back up your configuration – Some routers let you back up your current configurations in case you need to restore the configuration if you have to reset the router. This will make it easier to restore the router to your preferred specifications.
This isn’t all you need to do but this will get your going on the right track. If you want to check out the routers firewall. Go to GRC Shields up and do a battery of tests on y our connection. The more prepared you are the harder it is for a hacker/unwanted guests to get on your network. If you have any suggestions that you want to throw my way just post a comment or go to my About me page and email me!!
I don’t know who uploaded this to Youtube. I loved this Youtube video I had to share it with you. I found this looking for Mythbusters, so I hope you enjoy!!
He retires from blogging and begins bulk emailing? Is fark? I think not, in his first email. He talks about how bloggers over reacts with blogs.
Most of the time you get the people who really love to blog, and those who try to make money. It comes with the territories, but it isn’t something that we do for ourselves. It’s something that we do for our readers. So let’s get down to the business at hand.
Is blogging dead?
————————-
Yes, it is. Officially.
Actually, I’ve been thinking about this question and while blogging is
clearly booming, there has been a deep qualitative change in the
nature of the ’sphere. There are so many folks involved in blogging to
today, and it’s moving at a much quicker pace thanks to “social
accelerants” like TechMeme, digg, Friendfeed and Twitter. Folks are so
desperate to be heard–and we all want to be heard that’s why we
blog–that the effort put into being heard has eclipsed the actual
hearing.
Thanks to all the help from the social media group! I think we are more able to find more than Two years ago, finding a blog would of been, just luck! If not, by chance, we would of had to really search until we found that blog we liked and wanted to keep reading.
Others think blogging is a skill, I on the other hand think it’s something that comes with the territories. If you want to blog, you have to make yourself available to talk about anything that you’re passionate about.
Does that mean we need more readers? I say NO! We have plenty of readers. They are just looking the blog that connects them to there ways of thinking. It isn’t the writer that determines this but by the readers. Who wants to be a better person by making contributions to their favorite blogs.
Excelling in blogging today is about link-baiting, the act of writing
something inflammatory in order to get a link. Many folks say I’m
responsible for link-baiting–these people are absolute idiots. I’ve
never tried to get any of these insecure, lonely freaks to link to
something I’ve said.
[Via TechCrunch again]
Jason if you read this, I don’t want any link love from you. I say that truthfully, I am not insecure or Lonely that needs link love from anyone who has quite a few followers. I really don’t care who likes me or hates me, I do this because I love to blog. Jason just because of a few bad apples in the group doesn’t mean all of the blogsphere is that way.
I could care less about getting link love. I admit, I would like to have some but that is beside the point. My integrity is nothing to laugh at. My philosophy is that I’ll get my followers because of my principles. It just burns my biscuits that you have the tenacity to make a comment about bloggers like that.
I personally think, you’re not doing this to get some attention! I know better. You are doing this because the blogosphere has mistreated you. I understand it, I realize that you are tired of the blogosphere trying to do all this stuff to you. So with that I’ll end it, saying this:
“Those who do nothing, have nothing to complain about. Those who are great have great complaints thrown at them!“
I’ve been talking to my friends at work and in other places, they’ve all asked the same question from time to time. “Is privacy on the internet a possibility?” and in short my answer is “No, you’ve got no privacy on the Internet!“ This is what I like to refer to as people wanting privacy to be on the internet. Let’s face it folks, there is no privacy on the internet. People are worried about Youtube debacle and I understand! In today’s society and time there is no privacy. If let’s say you’ve come to my site. What would I find out you?
I don’t tell you this to make you not want to visit my site. This type of stuff is always going to be recorded by almost 95% websites you visit. It’s always going to be an unspoken understanding. I have to keep up to date on what happens on my site. It’s just normal to get the information and be able to see where everyone is coming from.
Why do sites have statsictics? It’s to find out how well there site is doing. It can also be used to keep up-to-date on what happens with search engines and what is popular. So these sites can become a better site. Yes it is true that most sites decide well in advance what looks like a popular topic. I understand this and now you can too. They want people to come to there site. I hope you understand that to, most bloggers, and I include myself in this, want a discussion about topic at hand. I love to find out what people think of my site? Here’s a little secret,a hot topic brings out the comments because the ones who are passionate about a topic will comment about it. It comes in waves though so there will be days that nothing happens and there will be days you get a ton of people coming to my site.
It’s the nature of the beast, or I should say the internet. “Do we need to worry about what we do on the Internet?“ and I say whole heartedly “Yes!!“But if you take my advice and understand this, everyone wins. Bloggers figured this out in the early days of blogging. They’ve know about stats before we even had the internet before blogging was an option. This is something that has to be present to make these website a better place for people of all nations.
In the near future, I’ll be discussing how you can prevent people from finding out some of this information by clearing your cookies and your cache. That doesn’t mean, by doing this you’ll be anonymous it just means that no one, will know certain things about you. For example, have you been to this or other sites before? I’ll be explaining this in detail soon, so be watching for it!
Although I’ve been collecting this data about my visitor I do no have access to other sites so in that respect I only know so much about the people who visit my site. Now I must point out I do not nor shall I ever keep a log of what people do on my site. The statistics that I have been gathering, I’ll on occasion just delete them and start a new. My statstics are rolling, so I only gather so much data before the new data kills the old data. So in essence, you are somewhat protected from people looking over you shoulder, but the truth is. Someone somewhere sometime is going to be watching everything you do at some point. So lets sit back and relax and imagine we are sitting on a desserted island and you can call me Skipper and I’ll call you Gilligan.
While looking around the internet, I found this one article that looks somewhat truthful about the Youtube and Viacom lawsuit debacle. I thought I’d share it with you and let you decide for yourself!!

If your like me and have Zonealarm installed there is a fix!! Zone Alarm has found a way to fix the problem so you don’t have to worry about that the little shield constantly being shown on the right hand corner of the desktop.

Is Microsoft worried about the the Malacious Software updates that they think it could be a problem and not admitting? Why would they want add this. I’ve either got to accept or decline this agreement. If I decline the agreement, the update isn’t applied? So they are basically forcing me to agree or not install a product that I’ve not seen any use off? Who are they trying to kid, either it’s doing a fantastic job and I don’t know about it, or it doesn’t do crap and still I don’t know about it. Kind of makes a mute point, I’ll just decline it and not worry about it. I have my own anti-virus (AVG Anti-Virus 8). So If I get bit in the next month I’ll know. I’ll update you as I it comes out!!
My wife installed the WIndows XP updates without asking me or telling me. The next thing I found out is she couldn’t access the internet. If you install KB951748 and have Zonealarm, you will have to unistall KB951748 to get internet Access.
I have to thank TANJENTSDOTCOM. Thanks for the help. If you worry about that update you can always uninstall Zonealarm but I like the program and feel it has some great protection. I don’t know what Microsoft is doing but I think they did not test this thoroughly!! Hope this helps!!
So you want to listen to several podcast a day and you don’t know how to do it. I’ve had so many people ask me how do I listen to 10 to 15 Podcasts a day. My rule of thumb on this is simple, look at what you throught the day and figure out how you can listen to them. By doing the lawn, by doing the dishes, or cleaning the house. You can even have fun and listen to them at work. So let’s talk about what ones I like to listen to. This is kinda hard because I’ve get 2 or three daily Tech Cruft which are:
These are the ones that podcast more than once a week. They do it twice a week. There is one that does podcast for several areas. That one I like to listen to get my meat and get all the technology woes.
I like to listen to podcasts at work because it helps with fixing computers and keeps me up to date on what is going on the computer world. These are my favorite podcast and left the others that sometimes are good on an occassion but I do want to know what others listen to, I would like to get some better podcasts to listen too. What’s your favorite podcast to listen to? What’s the URL?
I’m done with blogger. I’ve had some problems importing blogger. I’ve had to search for a good plugin to import my old blogger into Word Press and found it. I used a plugin called Blogger RSS importer. It seemed to work really well, I did have to go through and delete a couple double post of mine because I had trouble with the first time around but if you find any Double post please let me know and I’ll fix!!! I’ll start blogging more often in a few days, I’ve got some good ideas for my blog!

I really enjoyed this movie and My two young kids ages 3 and 6 actually watched it all the way through the Hour and half Movie.
Synopsis:
After hundreds of lonely years of doing what he was built for, WALL•E (short for Waste Allocation Load Lifter Earth-Class) discovers a new purpose in life (besides collecting knick-knacks) when he meets a sleek search robot named EVE. EVE comes to realize that WALL•E has inadvertently stumbled upon the key to the planet’s future, and races back to space to report her findings to the humans (who have been eagerly awaiting word that it is safe to return home). Meanwhile, WALL•E chases EVE across the galaxy and sets into motion one of the most exciting and imaginative comedy adventures ever brought to the big screen.
Joining WALL•E on his fantastic journey across a universe of never-before-imagined visions of the future, is a hilarious cast of characters including a pet cockroach, and a heroic team of malfunctioning misfit robots.
Filled with surprises, action, humor and heart, WALL•E was written and directed by Andrew Stanton, produced by Jim Morris, co-produced by Lindsey Collins and features original and innovative sound design by Academy Award®-winner Ben Burtt.
If you like science fiction and comedy, you will love this move. Go see this movie in digital. It has stunning graphics and is well done with the plot. You will like this movie due to the way you get involved with Wall-E. I suggest you go see this film on the big screen before you try to see this film on the small screen. You will thoroughly enjoy this movie. This is definitely designed for all ages.
The plot makes you want to root for the good guy, and boo the bad guy(which there is one but I won’t say who or what!!) You will be laughing and crying all the way to the end. I can’t say much more than that. It is the best movie that has come out this year. All I can say is go see it and decide for yourself.
I found this great program out. it’s called the Levelator. It shows to me that it can be done with making a podcast viable. I am thinking of doing a podcast and would love to here what people want to hear or you could help me come up with a name. Throw those names out and let me know what you want the podcast to be called. I’d love to hear what people want out of the next podcast. Your oppinions count. If you don’t suggest anything, I’ll be forced to come to up with me myself.
As you can see I’ve got Several people here who you don’t think would reply or even think about doing this. I have a plan. I want these people to tell their story about this memo. I challenge them to actually post their responses on their blog or Podcast. I want to hear your story about the old days. I want to find out all about what people think or did to get into the IT profession!! I have this grand Idea to hear from the people and find out their story. That is why if you do talk about the memo link back to me so I’ll know.
If you think you’re not a computer geek or a Sysadmin, I know better. I am sure you have family or friends that you’ve had to work on their computer for some reason or other. You have the skills even if you didn’t know it. I want to know how you got into the IT Field. I want to compile all this information to help people to get into the field and all this information is valuable to people.
I dare you Scoble, Mark, and the Co-founders to be the first to do it. You know you want to!!!
In response to the Mind Of Root Podcast, I’ve decided to add my own comments. I think Keith had a brilliant idea and wanted to add my answers to this. So Here goes:
How old were you when you started using computers?
I was around 9 or 10 when I started using a TI-994A!
As you can see this was very fun to use because of the fact that you had to use cartridges to play games on. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I like some of the programs in basic and Basica before Dos came around. I learned so much from the system. You could create the complex programs and save them to a tape. It was before the 3 1/2 floppy. It was hard work to make these programs but I loved every part of it.
This goes back to the first question. My first Machine was the Ti-994a. You could have game cartridges and such, I loved that little machine. I would come home from school and program , play with the System or taking it apart. I enjoyed it so much I still like to use my basic emulation to program!!I’ve got so many fond memories of the system and to this day will always enjoy it.
What was the first real script you wrote?
My first script was in the Ti-994a basic and it was designed to Mimic the human speech pattern. With my system I had a tape recorder I could use to save the data to keep programming with it. It was not the best program but I learned so much with the programming experience.
What scripting languages have you used?
The scripting languages that I’ve have used are Pascal, Basica, QBasic, Basic, C++, and DOS scripting with the Win-Get program. It is designed to get programs and install automatically without a user. It’s good for when you have a new system that you need to install a several programs that you’ve decided are the best.
What was your first professional sysadmin gig?
My professional gig, isn’t one that most people consider when they get into this field. I work from my house on the side to repair computers for anyone who needs it. My daytime job isn’t even in this type of the IT field but sooner or later someone will see my talent and will hire me or I will start making so much money from home. I’ll be able to quit my daytime job.
If you knew then what you know now, would have started in IT?
That is a hard question to answer because I knew what I was getting into when I started my home business. I think I’d have to say I would still be doing what I’ve have done and what I will do. I love working on computers and finding all this problems that you would never expect or want. I love trying to figure out what most people have the hardest time figuring out. I will always enjoy seeing what comes out of my work.
If there is one thing you learned along the way that you would tell new sysadmins, what would it be?
Not all people are understanding of the IT field. We need to give them a lot of leeway as to prevent ourselves from getting to much stress andembarrassment. It is well known that people become angry with the IT field because they don’t understand it. They will lash out at us because they do not know any better. All I have to say to the anyone wanting to get into the IT Field IS: “Customers aren’t always right but we aren’t always right either.” You have to work with your customers to prevent confusion for that one reason.
What’s the most fun you’ve ever had scripting?
The most fun I’ve had with scripting is in the old days with Basic making a pac-man clone with basic. It wasn’t the best but I sure did enjoy the challenge of coding it. I didn’t do anything like Keith did with is coding. I do like to have fun with basic and it’s still my favorite because it is so simple and easy to use. It all depends on what you have need of but I will always like basic and how much I’ve have learned from it.
So here is why I say they have thrown family values out of the window. They seem to want to show clips and movies about Sex. Some talking about pregnancy and other just about how they do it. They also seem to have full movies about drugs and sex!!
National Lampoon’s
Spring Break
One of the ones I am talking about is National Lampoons which talks about the usual spring break and 18 year olds. I am guessing they are trying to get people to google the word sex and movies to get people to come to Hulu.
Totally Baked
Now about this little movie, this one is so stupid, I wouldn’t even rent it. It however has been rated “R” and talks about drugs and some sexual scenes. I also think they are doing this to get people to come to there sites. I however don’t think this is totally acceptable, they shouldn’t have to do this.
So what does that do for the reputation of Hulu? Are you comfortable with how this IPTV is showing these types of content on the internet. although you have to be REGISTERED to see these that doesn’t mean they actually prove that your 18 or older to see these movies or clips. What do you think they should do about this? Are you concerned about your children seeing this?
So you want to be able to play a game? You don’t know if your current system can play the game? Well this little website Can You Run it has the ability to show you in details of what does and what doesn’t work. It will recommend software or hardware that can be upgraded to allow you to play your game. It allows you to see where you can improve or where you Can Run it!! I’ve always have a question of what will run and what won’t. With this website, I know what will run and what won’t on my current system. If I need to upgrade, I know what needs to be upgraded and what will work. I have this site bookmarked for just that. If I have an inclination of wanting to buy a game. This is the first place I go for just that. I don’t want to buy a game a have to upgrade the whole system just to play a 40$ game. I also like to know when my system is too old for current games. Can you Run it — I can!!
For those of you who use Vista here are some easy steps to take to prevent Vista saying the program stops responding:
Re-install vista
Install all necessary windows programs. (FIREWALL, Anti-virus, and anything else that is security related!!)
Download Decrapifier
Download Enemy Territory
Run the setup program of Enemy territory as Admin by:
Right click on wolfet.exe and select run as administrator
install the program
download patch 2.60(not 2.60b)
Run the patch same way as wolfet.exe as ADMIN.
After that is patched.
Run the ET.exe as Admin (Right click) and your should be able to play for hours on end without having Vista saying it stopped responding. I’ve installed it and run it for a while without any problems. Try that out and let me know if it works for you!!
Whenever you open or save a file in WindowsVista, you typically get the standard dialog box which has shortcut locations on the left side. You can easily customize these locations to add or remove locations to best suit your needs. Here is how:
Open a dialog box (either a Save As or Open dialog will work).
Right click on some white space in the locations on the left pane and select Open Favorite Links Folder. The folder: “C:\Users\Your Name\Links” should open.
Add or remove shortcuts as needed.
Your changes should take effect immediately.
Once you take a few minutes to configure your locations, this trick should save you quite a bit of time.
So I’ve had some good programs that seem to be working with vista. I figured I’d talk about some of the programs that seem to work well with my copy of Vista. Although if you want to use the programs like I do, please install Vista Sp1 before you try these programs. I’ve got Sp1 installed in this system and have had no problems with the Service Pack or these programs.
RoboForm So I’ve had problems Keepass and Windows Vista Prem. I’ve found this little program that actually does what Keepass does without the trouble of how to install it. I like the management and how well it intergrated into Vista and Firefox. It is also free. Go check it out.
So you’ve signed up to Friend Feed and want to get updates on your computer without a browser. So Feedalizr gives you updates and all on Vista without a browser. You use Adobe Air which works well with Vista also.
It also uses Adobe Air and lets you use it with twitter and also works well with Vista. I’ve had no problems with these programs from installation to running them on Vista.
FeedDemon This is a great little RSS reader that works well and I’ve had no major problems with this little reader. This is also a free reader to install and use. It’s brought to you by Newsgator.
I have used this for my OEM systems with Vista and does extremely well to remove all the useless programs that are loaded into vista when they are shipped. I also find this works well with XP OEM versions also. I’ve had no problems with this one program even without SP1.
These are just some of the programs that work well with Vista. I hope this helps people to use Vista a lot better.
